Waiting for your results

Waiting for your test results can be difficult. You may be feeling anxious or worried.

Your primary care provider can help you through this time and answer many of your questions.  Your primary care provider will also be the person to receive your test results.

You can expect to receive most test results within ten working days. Sometimes your test results can take longer.  This can happen when your test is sent to another facility for analysis or when you need multiple tests before your care team can confirm your results.

When you get a test, ask your cancer care team how long you can expect to wait for your test results. It is okay to ask your primary care provider to follow up with your cancer care team if you have not received your test results within the expected amount of time.
