Cancer Care Ontario launches online cancer risk assessment tool

February 9, 2015

Introducing MyCancerIQ.ca – an innovative online cancer risk assessment tool that determines your risk of developing breast, cervical, colorectal and lung cancer relative to other Ontarians.

Launched in February 2015 by Cancer Care Ontario, My CancerIQ is designed to start a conversation between patients and their health-care providers by taking users through a series of interactive questions that estimate a person’s risk of cancer compared with other Ontarians of the same sex and age.

In less than 10 minutes, My CancerIQ provides users with a summary of a their cancer risk factors and the steps they can take to reduce them, such as connecting people to resources like Smokers’ Helpline if they are looking to quit smoking.

My CancerIQ puts patients in the driver’s seat by providing them with evidence-based facts, so that their health-care providers can spend less time assessing risk factors and more time focusing on cancer prevention, screening and health behavior change.

If you have any questions regarding My CancerIQ, please contact Ashley Hendry, Manager, South East Regional Cancer Program at hendrya@kgh.kari.net.
